How to stream Real Movies using Firefox

These instructions apply to FireFox 2.0.0.6 and Real Player 11 Beta.  If you do not have this version of software, we recommend uninstalling your current versions, rebooting, then installing the most up to date versions.

1. Left Click the Alternate Play link.	2. Choose to open with "RNX file processor" if not already selected.  Also, check the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." box.  Then hit the "ok" button.
3. FireFox will display the "Downloads" dialog box.  Real Player then should open automatically.  If it doesn't, then click the open link next to the name of the rpm file.	4. After Real Player opens, enter your Usercode in the "Username" box and your Passcode in the "Password" box, and then hit the "OK" button.
5. Your Real Player should load the video.    If It gets stuck in a connecting loop (this happens from time to time and is caused by several scenarios-most commonly when a username and password are not entered quickly enough), simply go back to step 3 and hit the open link again without closing Real Player.  A connecting loop almost always happens only the first time real player is opened.    For this reason, and to prevent from entering your username and password over and over again, we recommend leaving real player open after you are done with one movie and while you are browsing the site to find another.  To preserve yours and our bandwidth, you can pause or stop the clip while browsing.  If you do this you should only have to enter your username and password one time when load the first rpm file and another when real player opens.  Then as long as you stay on the site and keep your browser and real player open, you should not have to enter authentication information again.     PLEASE NOTE: BY DEFAULT REAL PLAYER WILL OPEN WITH OUR VIDEOS RESIZED TO ABOUT 250-300%.  THIS IS A MATTER OF PERSONAL PREFERENCE, HOWEVER WE THINK OUR VIDEOS LOOK BEST WHEN YOU RESET THE SIZE TO 100% AS DISPLAYED ABOVE.

3. After Real Player opens, enter your Usercode in the "Username" box and your Passcode in the "Password" box, and then hit the "OK" button.
4. 1. Left Click the Alternate Play link.	2. Enter your Usercode in the "Username" box and your Passcode in the "Password" box, and then hit the "OK" button.

Opera will display the "Downloads" dialog box.  Make sure the "Opens With" field displays "RNX file processor", check the "Remember choice and do not show this dialog again" checkbox and hit the "Open" button.	4. The Opera "transfers" window will open and the real movie should automatically load in Real Player.  If it does not load, you can go to the transfers window, right click on the file and choose "open" or "open with".
5. After Real Player opens, enter your Usercode in the "Username" box and your Passcode in the "Password" box, and then hit the "OK" button.
6. Viewing Real files without installing the official Real Player (not recommended - use at your own risk)

"(I dislike) RealMedia as your download medium. Not so much the medium, it's just that RealPlayer sucks like a crack-ho."

That pretty much sums up a common initial reaction to the Real format being used for our "power user" VIPs.  For the regular use we recommend using RealPlayer.

While the RealPlayer for Windows is feature rich, it uses excessive memory, is sometimes difficult to properly configure, and will sometimes intrude upon your computer usage. Many people will never notice a problem, but some "power users" consider it an unwanted application.

To those with interest in our VIP service but hate RealPlayer, our advice? Don't install it. If you want a quick, down-and-dirty application to play your RealMedia files, try out Real Alternative. It's based on the old Windows Media Player, but it adds the codecs needed to view the latest RealVideo movies. It doesn't support advanced features and its ability to stream video is limited (will not work with ActionJAV), but if you're just downloading movies to your hard drive and plan to view them later it fits the bill perfectly.

Note About Security and Usage

You can use the VIP real movies on our site in two ways.  You can either stream using RealPlayer to watch the movies as they stream from our servers to your computer or you can download them to your computer and play them locally.  Streaming is unlimited, but we have to regulate our download allowance per day per customer.  Keep in mind most sites do not even allow downloads.  This is because it cannot be profitable to provide a huge amount of content that users can just mirror to their hard drives by setting up programs and walking away.  However, we understand most of you want to save your favorite movies, so we have found a solution that provides a good balance between our profitability and your happiness and value. 

While providing unlimited streaming video, we impose temporary and very reasonable daily download limits.  You are currently allowed to download 12GB of content daily.  This does not include movies streamed using RealPlayer.  After you reach that limit, your account will be temporarily blocked by our security software.  Beware that even though streaming is unlimited, if your account is blocked because you downloaded beyond your limit, you will not be able to stream until the block expires.  This only stops access for 6-12 hours at which time you can resume downloading and streaming as normal.  The best policy is to stop downloading before you reach your limit, so you can continue to have unlimited streaming access 24/7.  We believe this to be reasonable limitation for less than $1 per day.

By the GIG, not by the movie

One gigabyte is roughly 100 minutes in MPEG-1 (VCD) video.  AVI video depending on several factors, is roughly a bit less, but with much higher quality.   All single-CD movies are under 80 minutes (often around 60), and many double-CD movies are only about 90 minutes.  By using our system, we're giving you, the user, the most bang for the buck.

For example, say there's a 90-minute 2-disc movie.  At our previous pricing (delivery by mail), this movie would cost $6.45.  Other JAV VCD vendors charge as much as $12 for the same movie.  Now, you can download that very movie for the going rate of 1GB which is currently $1.34!

Now with this savings, there comes a downside.  Many movies have trailers, which are previews of other upcoming movies.  Some people enjoy these extra scenes, as they're usually the hottest parts of other movies and can be considered a "bonus", others will consider them excess baggage.  While we do make efforts to remove long and unnecessary trailers, some will inevitably slip through the cracks.  Considering your extreme savings as outlined above, we see trailers as insignificant and will not "pro-rate" your quota based on trailers.

Previewing the movie

When viewing a movie page, we offer several ways for you to get a good idea of what a given movie may entail:

• Many of the top actresses will have their own pages with bios and high-quality pictures (some pictures may be for VIP members only).
• Fetishes seen in the movie (check the "Fetish Film Finder").
• Six preview captures taken from throughout the movie.  These are strategically chosen to give as much of a general idea as possible, including an idea of picture quality.
• We also have snapshot shows which provides around 50 small pictures per disc of the movie in sequence.
• Most movies will have full descriptions; many are even "scene-by-scene" details.
• High-res cover scans.  The backs have even more pictures of scenes in the film.
• Real movies (VIP members only).

Although we have invested a great deal of time and money in fast, reliable servers to ensure problem-free downloads, we have no control over other problems which may arise.  Network interruptions between us and you are out of our hands, and could conceivably occur.  This is why the resuming of partially downloaded files is a very important feature.

If you use a recent version of Internet Explorer, the resuming of broken downloads is supported in the browser.  However if you stop a download and do not resume in a reasonable period of time, IE may delete the partially downloaded file before you have a chance to resume.  This is why some people choose to use a "download manager" when grabbing large files.

There are many download managers to be found, but if all you need it for is to download from ActionJAV we recommend a freeware manager.  No point in paying for what you don't need, right?  One of our favorites has always been FreshDownload, which integrates easily into any modern web browser.

To use FreshDownload, first download and install it to the default directory.  After rebooting your computer, you'll need to integrate it into Internet Explorer's right-click menu.  Run FreshDownload, click View, FreshDownload Options.  Check the box for Show FD in IE context menu.

If desired, uncheck the box for Check default Download Manager.  Click OK.

Now you must click the connection tab and change both Simultaneous HTTP connections and Max simultaneous downloads to 1.  If you do not do this, you will not complete your downloads and will not be refunded.

Once FreshDownload is configured, using it is a snap.  To download a Digital Xpress file, simply right-click on the download link and select Download with FD.

One Download at a time - you MUST use single threads!

YOU MUST SAVE ONE FILE AT A TIME AND/OR USE SINGLE THREADS WITH DOWNLOAD MANAGERS!  For those of you not using a download manager, save one file at a time.  If you use a download manager with multiple threads or try to save more than one file at a time, there is a good chance you will not complete any downloads and will still be charged.  Our servers restrict you to one connection at a time.  Multi-threads are used to maximize your download capacity, but with our current configuration it is totally unnecessary and is simply not allowed.  Even if you have a 3mbs comcast connection (the fastest non commercial high bandwidth account we know of), you will get a full speed download from our servers.  They are very fast.  We repeatedly make this clear on the site and will not refund for users that do not heed this warning.

What happens if I just click the D/L link?

YOU MUST USE SAVE AS OR A DOWNLOAD MANAGER!  If you just click the link, you will be double charged for the movie and chances are you will not be able to even save it after downloading it.  Even if you click the link once and cancel it out, you will be charged once.  This all depends on your browser and operating system, but since the vast majority of users use Internet Explorer the typical scenario is explained.  You can blame Microsoft for this one folks.  We repeatedly make this clear on the site and will not refund for users that do not heed this warning.

How to play MPEG4 (DivX, etc.)

Microsoft Windows includes what we feel is the best movie player available, and it's called simple Windows Media Player. By itself however, it is unable to play the AVI files available for download here at Actionjav.com. You must first download the appropriate codecs - drivers which tell Windows Media Player what to do. Fortunately, there are simple solutions available for free and take only a moment to install.

Probably the most popular solution is what is known as K-lite Codec Pack (http://www.codecguide.com/). The author of this utility has gathered all the most popular codecs and put them together in one neat little package. Simply download and run their file and you should be able to play everything on our site.

You may notice K-Lite has a "Codec Pack" and a "Mega Codec Pack". The "Mega" includes extra tools and utilities which in all liklihood you'll never use, so for beginners we recommend the "Full" Codec Pack.

NOTE 1: If you have installed any codecs in the past, uninstall them (and reboot) prior to installing K-lite.

NOTE 2: Due to the continual development of new codecs, we recommend downloading a new version of K-lite every few months.

How to play H.264

Windows users can watch H.264-encoded movies by simply following the Windows notes for MPEG4 (above). Please note if you have not updated your codecs recently, you may need to do so in order to view these movies. Also be sure to enable all options when installing your codec pack. An alternative for H.264 if you choose not to use K-lite can be found here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/x264_Video_Codec.htm

Also please be advised that playing H.264 movies takes a bit more CPU horsepower than DivX or XviD. Much of the slowdowns encountered by using Apple's Quicktime for Windows can be avoided by using the codec pack as described above, but even so there could be delays when jumping ahead or back (FF & REW).

MAC users should be able to watch H.264 movies by simply updating Quicktime.

Why does this movie look squished on my computer screen?

Windows Media Player offers no options to view a movie in 16:9 mode instead of the default 4:3. If you install the K-lite Mega Codec Pack, you'll have a player called Media Player Classic. To view a widescreen movie using this application, click on View, Video Frame, Override Aspect Ratio, and change it to 16:9.

Windows Media Player (WMP) vs. the alternatives

Perhaps the most popular alternative for beginners is Videolan's VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. VLC has two advantages: first, it's available for just about every operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.). Second, it already has recent codecs built-in.

While this sounds like an attractive option, we stand by our claim that Windows Media Player is the optimal choice. Not only is it rich in features, but the playback quality is superior to everything else we have tried. Artifacts in DivX are much less noticable in WMP than other players, and at times this can be extremely important. If you're using another player and find picture quality to be less than desirable, please try WMP before contacting us for support.

Another popular player is Windows Media Player Classic (WMPC). You can obtain this from the K-lite website. One of the great things about WMPC is it can often play movie files which WMP, for whatever reasons, can't. This is a great player to have as a backup in the event you have problems playing a movie in WMP.
